A History of Inequity

Sacramento has had a long and painful history of racially segregating its neighborhoods* through race covenants like redlining and other economic policies between 1913 and 1948, and appraisal tactics were used to perpetuate real estate segregation into the late 1970’s. Historically, neighborhoods with mostly white demographics were heavily invested in while funding was divested in neighborhoods with higher concentrations of people of color. A near century of these practices has led to predominantly white neighborhoods having a major advantage.

The ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ Volunteer Program believes that parents, grandparents, neighbors and community partners have a wealth of ideas and talents to share with our students and our schools. Volunteers help foster stronger school/community relationships by creating a common ownership in the success of our schools, as well as, demonstrating the importance of community service to our students. All ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ Volunteer Program requirements are designed with student and adult safety in mind.

International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes encourage both personal development and academic achievement challenging students to think critically, to ask the right questions and think across disciplines. An IB education also fosters diversity, curiosity and a healthy appetite for learning.

Schools must be authorized to teach an IB programme. Every school authorized to offer IB programmes is known as an IB World School.
