September 20, 2012 (Sacramento): Schools in Sacramento City Unified School District are participating in the first-ever Green Apple Day of Service, an international event sponsored by the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council.

The first Green Apple Day project gets underway this Saturday (September 22) at West Campus High School. Hundreds of volunteers from Starbucks, Rebuilding Together, State of Being and the West Campus community will work to revitalize the grounds surrounding two classroom wings.

On Wednesday, September 12, Assemblymember Roger Dickinson will distribute over 300 backpacks filled with school supplies to Sacramento youth. Dickinson鈥檚 2nd annual 鈥淕ive Back(pack) Drive,鈥� a back-to-school drive to collect backpacks and supplies for kindergarten through 6th grade students in Sacramento ran throughout the month of August.
